Breaking Bad - Walter's Transformation (Spoiler Alert)

The hit TV show "Breaking Bad" has ignited a fury, a fury that would land the show over 11 Emmy awards. Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston is a over qualified high school chemistry teacher who was diagnosed with lung cancer. As a result he is forced to manufacture methamphetamine to secure a stable future for his family. Walter White under goes a massive transformation through his journey from Bill Nye to Scarface, tainting his soul every step. The shows creator is beyond brilliant, leaving foreshadowing and hints in almost every episode, most notably in the first episode when Walter is defining chemistry as:

  "You see, technically, chemistry ... It is growth, then decay, then transformation." - Walter White, E101

That last sentence defines Walters journey. At the start he is a sensitive, passive, generally-good guy but as his character develops he falls into a dark places, burning himself as he tumbles. A perfect illustration of Walter's soul is his car. Each defining moment in the show is directly reflected upon his car, each time he damages his soul, his car is damaged too. The first example is when he kills the two dealers that killed Combo (one of his dealers) , his car is dented. When Jane dies as a result of him refusing to aid her - an airplane part lands and shatters his wind shield. When he back-stabs Jesse, Jesse shatters his wind shield again. When he breaks Jesse trust by brining Hank to the hidden lab, his car is smashed in an accident. Finally, in season five, he sells his car for only $50 - which can be seen as selling his soul. Walter has undergone a massive transformation, and only the second half of season five can tell what will happen to him.
